I wrote a piece for the @nytopinion today, about the historic, transformative budget reconciliation legislation President Biden signed yesterday. The Inflation Reduction Act is an extraordinary investment in our future. And, we must not lose sight of the urgency of care policy. The bill includes lots of great investments, but the work on the care economy - home and community based care for older adults and people with disabilities, child care, paid family and medical leave, good care jobs - is still undone. I want to say to all of you caregivers out there, and all who participated in #CareCantWait campaigning these past couple of years — we have not lost. We have not won. . . YET. . . But we have not lost. What we have built is undeniable and irreversible. We’re never going back to a time when care was invisible. Never. Care must come next. It will. Sending you all my love.
