It's World Book Night! Tonight is all about encouraging a love of reading for us busy/insta addicted adults, so all of our booksellers have had a think and come up with the book that dragged them kicking and screaming out of The Dreaded Reading Slump. Details below... So You've Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson - if you've ever sat entranced by a Louis Theroux documentary you'll tear through this one; mad little stories of the cruelty of the post-internet era, all told with Ronson's trademark self effacing humour. The Guest List by Lucy Foley - if you're wondering where to start with reading, I always suggest a thriller, and Lucy Foley is up there with the best; some of the worst people you know are trapped on an island with old petty rivalries coming to the surface and a killer in their midst... What could be better? Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers - gentle, beautifully written, but totally compelling, this is the kind of book you put down and then pick back up again a millisecond later. Dreamy and the perfect bath book (I do not bestow this honour lightly). Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - OK, yes, the size is maybe off-putting, but sometimes what you really need is a book to sink your teeth into and when that urge strikes Suzanna Clarke is just the genius world builder you need. Anyway - go forth and read whatever tickles your fancy, all books are created equal (audio deniers I'm looking at you), and have a great weekend! #worldbooknight #waterstones #booksellers #booksellerrec #recommendations #getintoreading #readingslump #readingisfundamental #theguestlist #lucyfoley #thereadinghour #thereadingagency #jonronson #smallpleasures #clarechambers #susannaclarke
