We are grateful that we recognise something special in each other, where society taught us or labeled us as flawed or wrong, United, we can thrive In practicing loving each other, and in symbiosis, ourselves. We can see the virtue and respect in everyone and everything. Today and everyday we have this ongoing rebuild what our gatherings are and what they mean. Effemme is a collective of music lovers, freaky dancers, fabulous prancers, hopeful huggers, generous carers, collective believers. We come together to celebrate community and Mother Nature. Today we are gathering in Sydney Park. We will be at the lower pond, also known as Gilbanung Wetland (meaning 'grasshopper', recognising the prevalence of insects in the park that sing from dusk). We will be broadcasting from our own little radio station. Think deconstructed & decentralised doof, you bring your fm radio or mobile speaker and grab one of our receivers to bring the music to your picnic blanket. There we be sets streamed from Rohan, Adi Toohey, Simon Caldwell and us. Imagine if we can recognise a love and care in us all that is so potentially huge, maybe it can and will change our gatherings, our dancefloors, our neighbourhoods. In turn our maybe our city and this country and in turn even the planet. To dream is to affirm that transformation is possible. Effemme acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora nation as the traditional custodians of beautiful park where we gratefully gather on this day, and we acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the custodians of the water, skies and land of this beautiful island we are on which we live, learn, picnic, work and play.
