The ‘Column’ at 72 Market Street — in 1983 Tony Bill sought to change the space from an art gallery to a restaurant. Architects Thom Mayne & Michael Rotundi designed 4 radius rods attached to a concrete column sunk into the ground by 15 ft. This was to reinforce the old brick building and ensure it was up to earthquake standards.
