Madam Mort for @uos_artcollection Catherine Mort was a landowner from Little Hulton who died in 1737. No trace remains of her home Wycheaves Hall, there are no known portraits of her and little documentary evidence of her existence. Her legacy is one of whispered stories, rustles beyond the path, glimpsed apparitions and the scattered remains of the silver birch forest she planted in her grief.
