I encountered two things today that I found deeply moving and helpful in processing this ongoing undercurrent of grief. The first is Mother’s Legs, 2018-2019 by Kaari Upson (1972-2021) at the Louisiana Museum in Denmark in which Upson places casts of her and her mother’s knees to the trunks of trees. It is such a tender and intimate portrait that teeters between the magical and macabre. The Second is a piece by Elizabeth Dias in today’s NY Times titled “The Arrow in Americas Heart”. I’ve included some of that article here but I recommend the full piece. xx
