Things I find freeing: openness, acceptance, releasing expectation & not being afraid of what others think ✨ I want to say a HUGE thank you for the wonderful response to yesterday’s video about my hearing aid. I genuinely didn’t think it would resonate with so many people. It’s wild how many people don’t get hearing tests, don’t wear aids or wear them in secret because of the immense stigma and negative association with hearing loss & hearing aids. To the point where we will suffer & silently struggle rather than seek treatment because this stigma is so huge. That was me for years too & it was so hard to accept that I needed help & hard to talk about this publicly. But I’m SO glad I did. Before yesterday, I hadn’t spoken to or found 1 person my age who has a hearing aid or hearing struggles. But since then, I’ve had hundreds of conversations and found so many people in a similar boat to me who are afraid to confront it or share it due to this stigma. I really hope we can start to break it down & raise more awareness of this invisible but very real and hard struggle. Sometimes social media can be a tough place but it’s times like this when I realise it can be so powerful, empowering & helpful for myself & others and I’m eternally grateful for this amazing community of people on here 🫶🏼♥️ Happy to answer any questions you might have about hearing loss/aids & help in any way I can 🙏🏼 photo taken in the beautiful & bright @vancouverlincoln @lincolnca Aviator on a project last month 📷 by @mchutch5
