And the most improved award goes to... Porsche Macan GTS. It’s been a minute since I’ve driven a Macan (last time was... 2017?) and it was fine. This is much better. The new GTS is actually engaging to drive. The older ones had capability, but were high riding understeer machines. Just ultimately dull, despite the badge. If you pop the hood on this Python Green baby (like @aaronjvanwagner and I did) you’ll see the twin-turbo, 2.9-liter V6 is still 85% in front of the axle, but Porsche has mostly dialed the understeer out of it. Feels to me it does so by overdriving a rear wheel, but hey—whatever works. Back to the engine: I’d like more power. This is the same motor as the $77K Audi RS5. There is makes 444 hp (same as a 959!) and 443 lb-ft of torque. The Macan GTS starts at $84K and makes 434 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. And this thing weighs about 4,400 pounds. Meaning, hey Porsche, make with the power. Sure, you can pass most 911s, but you just can’t blow their doors off the way a Stelvio Quad can. This chassis can take another 100 or so hp. Unless of course, it can’t. #porsche #macangts #moarpower @porsche 🤔😉😘
