13.1 MILES ✅ Launching into the year with a half marathon has been a celebration of sprinting toward my future by leaning into the present. Without my cochlear implant in, I ran in complete silence. With no distractions to the visuals flying by, I fell (as usual on my runs) deeper into my throughts. Ironically, I feel the most grounded when gazing upwards, toward the clouds above. With each stride, I reminded myself: The liberation I now have access to. The choices I hold in my own hands. The shedding of grief and the act of surrendering. This run was not about time, rank, or frankly the quantification of anything. When I consciously surrendered these thoughts to my feelings, I felt liberated. More than ever, I am realizing how numbers lead me further from my soul. Life really does goes on! How devastating. How beautiful. Welcome to the new year! 🍯
