Miss Teacher Vee? That has ring to it right? Teaching period positivity in Zambia β
βπΎβπΎπ yesterday I got to visit the beautiful village in Malambanyama; rural Zambia π€ I got to witness the Menstrual Health Training at one the schools that @afri.her support! -
I also got to share my period story with the girls, get a tour of their beautiful agricultural farming, their classrooms and their assembly hall.
I love how girls are starting to take pride in their periods and the stigmas and stereotypes of shame are starting to be undone.
The teacher here told us that at the start there was a high absence rate from girls because theyβd stay at home during their period, but now the rate is decreasing as more Menstrual classes are taught etc as @afri.her supports more Adolescent Girls to stay in school with their mentrual aid donations and sensitization classes
So many of them were shocked that I talk about my period on the internet so we played a YouTube vid for them ahaha the 5th slide is them in shock about it ππβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
And my two besties who didnβt want to let go of my hands. I miss them already.
Just beautiful to see!!! π«βπΎ
