Over the last 19 months I have been developing ways to create an ink/pigment/paint from coffee beans. Thank you @justinisraels and @paceprints for providing the resources and brilliance to execute my ideation and ways to intervene with the historical lineage of printmaking “Sunday to Sunday” is a relief print made using various coffee beans from Africa and South America to achieve a variety of values. The coffee inks were formulated by extracting the coffee oils and applying finely ground beans to oil based printmaking mediums. The coffee beans ultimately function like dry pigments in traditional printing inks. The coffee inks were then applied to the printing blocks (of which there were 7) and printed. No paint, pigment or ink were used in the process of creating. Sunday to Sunday, 2022 Relief with coffee 38 x 30 inches Edition of 10 “Sunday to Sunday” is included in an exhibition titled “New Editions” opening tonight at Pace Print’s new location.
