Ten Years Goes Fast! Dala, Dedon, 2012 Ten years in production, our Dala collection is the original hand factory project. Meaning “to take” in Tagalog, Dala finds inspiration from the floor-based, improvisational seating arrangements common throughout Asia, and specifically in the Philippines where it is made. Its woven surface exemplifies “translated hand production” by inviting artisans to “engage a single, double, or triple stripe while weaving, demonstrating an empowering and slightly subversive act of agency.” (Monica Obniski, “Speculating Widely” in Stephen Burks: Shelter In Place, Yale University Press: 2022) The first outdoor furniture ever woven through expanded aluminum, Dala was re-launched last year in all new color ways. Stay tuned for our next Dedon collection launching in Milan 2023! @dedon_official @kvadrattextiles @apallaresr @monica_obniski @highmuseumofart #designingdiversity #handfactory
