The very first time I witnessed the unique stylized artistry of @janellemonae was when a good friend sat me down and made me watch the video for #Tightrope ,an early single that she had collaborated on with #bigboi from @outkast that showcased Janelle in a tailored tuxedo and an Afro pompadour belting out an insanely catchy hybrid of funk , soul , dance and rap with retro brass flourishes and Motown inspired swagger and delivery ... she was a complete mashup of styles and genres with a sound and visage that was entirely her own . I instantly loved everything about her . Now, over a decade later, she’s become a household name and expanded into the world of acting, with featured roles in #Moonlight, #HiddenFigures and #Harriet. She came to #tiff22 this year with costar #Daniel Craig to promote writer /director @riancjohnson ‘s @knivesout sequel #glassonion, in which she has role in a star studded ensemble cast . What’s not to be in awe of with this clever queer sci fi adoring fashion slaying singing and dancing powerhouse.
