I’m very happy to have been a small part of Troye’s new EP, In A Dream. Writing “STUD” with Troye, Leland, and Oscar was a very surprising experience. What started out as aesthetically a club hook-up song turned into an exploration of our collective feelings on body dysmorphia and the murkiness of what someone is really looking for when seemingly searching for a “stud” to make their night and help them escape their reality and their insecurities. It’s not to say that there’s something inherently wrong in being attracted to someone you feel is your opposite, but there were times I’ve certainly felt drawn to someone I felt was my opposite as a result of my own low opinion of myself and I think “Stud” was an opportunity for us to explore that feeling. This song also has a couple of my favorite lines in it - “How much of me would you take? How much of me would you change?” Oof. I included a picture of us + Noonie looking nerdy af on Limes and some footage of Robyn being a legend performing “Love Is Free” - a big sonic inspiration “Stud” and something you should check out if you don’t know it yet and want to dance out some of your pent up quarantine energy.
