RE-ANIMATED is being revived with three exhibtions opening this month. The next is part of “BioMedia” - a group exhibition with international artists in co-creation between @centredesarts95 and @zkmkarlsruhe. The show in Enghien-les-Bains, France, runs from May 12th - July 10th. RE-ANIMATED is based on an interview I did with Douglas H. Pratt, an Ornithologist who spend 40 years of his life studying a bird that recently became extinct. He shared his memories and emotions of what it was like experiencing this form of eternal loss in a digital age. The bird can still be heard through recordings of it, the last one from 1987. The last time it was seen. Sampling his emotional memories with the song, and specimens I digitized at The Natural History Museum in NYC, the work is a journey from representation to emotion, accompanied by music from my good friend and sound mentor Michael Riesman, musical director of @phillipglass ensamble. @amnh @tranen_nu
