To determine whether men and women should approach their skincare routines differently based on their sex, we consulted with board-certified dermatologist Viseslav Tonkovic-Capin, MD who sets the record straight on sex-based skincare:
“Skincare should not be gendered because the skin-related differences between the sexes are relatively subtle. There is more individual variation in the skin than the variation between sexes. You can certainly split hairs, but it is not necessary and is arbitrary. Claims of effectiveness for gender-specific skincare are at least dubious and not backed up by sound science.”
So, curate your routine based on your skin type and concerns rather than your sex.
