LGBTQI+ people around the world face violence and persecution every day, simply for being who they are. 70 countries currently criminalize same-sex intimacy. In 11 of them, LGBTQI+ people can be put to death. In 2021, after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, Canada made a commitment to resettle vulnerable populations, including LGBTQI+ people fleeing violence in Afghanistan. Rainbow Railroad continues to see an ever-increasing number of LGBTQI+ Afghans who need safety and support. Today, we are issuing a call to action. We are asking for your help to call on the Government of Canada to urgently evacuate and resettle LGBTQI+ Afghans.
