The hardest part about being black for me was always self love. Half black half japanese is something people would always say “wow thats why you’re so beautiful” but to be that sounds like “when you lighten the black its beautiful” or “since you are mixed u are beautiful” that never sat well with me. As an adult i now see why people say these things and i see the privilege that i have in being mixed. This month lets think about our words and our unconscious bias, lets be open to being educated about black history. . #blackhistorymonth #blackmua #hawaiimua
