We thought we were doing everything right, but after we noticed some difficulty with T’s mobility we took him to the pediatrician who diagnosed him with metatarsus adductus in both feet. It’s not a life changing diagnosis and with the right referral and PT, they are confident he will be walking proficiently. But we had plans to do so many things like toddler-led walks, cooking together on our tower and going out and about without the stroller. The truth is, many of these activities he will be ready for SOON, but we are still working on it. Balance is making the biggest difference right now and at 18 months, he is really just starting to walk. He’s just not comfortable standing and walking for long periods of time right now - that’s all. I also know that we are often encouraged in Montessori to go at the child’s pace but this is my call to also pay attention to milestones and trust your gut! Getting professional advice is HUGELY important throughout our children’s lives too! What advice/questions do you have for us about T’s walking journey? #montessori #montessorichild #montessoriathome #earlychildhood #learningtowalk #crawling
