“Prom Night” I don’t realize how powerful a photo is until after it’s taken, it’s in that moment where a message larger than myself appears. This photo is special, I don’t often see black women be photographed this way. It is only until recently that black women have been photographed in fine art spaces, and be seen as human rather than subjects to be looked at. To photograph in Binta, in this special moment and to see her gazing up on her potential, is a moment in time to be remembered!
