I find September is generally a good month to plant as the rainfall is beginning to increase so you don’t need to be constantly watering the pots! We have a lot of ponytail grasses and other varieties around the garden now as we have become very fond of them (as you’ve probably guessed!) I added some styrofoam at the bottom of this pot because it was too deep to just fill with soil. I thinned out the grasses a bit & removed some of the dead strands.
