Crescent Core Rotation - age 53, October 28, 2022, 10:11 am 🌺CAUTION: THIS VIDEO IS FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS EXERCISE CAN BE DANGEROUS. Most rotational core exercises and movements occur from a stationary leg based platform on which a circular articulation of the rib cage is then executed. This makes sense, and it increases the power and safety of activities like throwing, bat swinging, and striking. More elusive are rotational core exercises where the torso becomes the stationary base upon which the hips and legs articulate and arcing movement. Besides strengthening the grip, arms, and the reverse plank position, the hanging crescent requires minimal equipment and it takes advantage of more than 100° of rotation and gets you accustomed to connecting to and moving the weight of the hips and leg as resistance. Strengthening this aspect of core rotation can really help control surf boards, skate boards, ski’s and snow boards. If you dance or participate in kicking arts, this exercise will bring the heat. Like all new exercises that impose twisting forces on the spine, enter this one conservatively and treat it like a stretch rather than an exercise. Much aloha 🌺
