Have you ever tried Txakoli? šŸ“ Txakoli is the traditional wine of the Basque Country. Situated near the Cantabrian Sea, this region has a maritime climate and annual rainfall can be as high as 1600mm. šŸŒ„ The terrain is irregular and mountainous, with valleys, banks and slopes of varying heights and gradients. Most vineyards are located on slopes, which play an important role in draining away rainwater and can provide favourable aspects for maximising sunlight exposure. There are two main styles of white wines made today: 1. The classic style is a white wine with high acidity, pale lemon in colour, low alcohol and aromas of citrus fruit, fresh grass and white flowers. These wines sometimes have a slight spritz and are made to be drunk while young and fresh. 2. The modern style tends to be more structured and is often made with aging on lees or in oak. šŸ‘ Special thanks to Teresa Guilarte, DipWSET. Consultant and Wine Educator @arteanwines
