Thin does not equal happiness It really doesn’t! Sadly this is something we have the learn with age and sometimes re-learn over and over. It comes slowly with the realisation that diet culture does not and should not dictate the way we live our lives. I spent my life wishing my body away. Wishing to be smaller. Wishing to me thinner. Wishing to be so unwell that I wouldn’t be able to eat or to lose weight quickly. Then what I’d always wished for, happened. And it came in the form of stage 4 cancer. Weight-loss came... with a side of chemo, operations, transplant, hair loss, injections, pain, sadness & time lost. Turns out, that isn’t what I wanted at all because I lost weight but I realised, I wasn’t happy. Obviously. Ironically, it took getting what I wished for in the form of the worst possible thing that would ever happen and massively regretting it to learn that happiness does not come with how much I weigh or the size of my clothes! Happiness came from learning that life is about so much more and what a privilege it is to simply, LIVE. So please, take this as a lesson. From me to you. To stop wishing your life away until you’ve lost weight and to start living now. Life is magical.
