I’ve been on a spree cleaning out my closet with products. After I grew my hair back from alopecia areata, I was very good at checking the ingredients of my skin and hair care products. But over the past year of so, I just slowly started getting comfortable. Last month, I had an issue with one of the preservatives (phenoxyethanol) which is commonly used in products because it’s considered safe. However, part of it can leave behind a toxic byproduct 1.4 dioxide, which is a known carcinogen.
