Some incredible shots by James Arthurs of the beautiful flower arrangements created by @carmelfloral for the ‘Gather Low Table’ photoshoot. - I want to take a moment to talk about James Arthurs, who has shot and lit all of my recent photos. This is the third photo shoot I’ve been apart of with him and he just keeps surprising me with his insane ability and vision as an artist. He uses light in a way that I’ve never seen done before. It’s as if he’s painting with light particles. Perfect slashes on the walls, at the perfect angle, coming from multiple sources with just the right amount of diffusion. Huge and powerful sky-panel lights blasting through massive 12’ x 12’ silk screens just to fill the room with a glow that adds that warm and rich soul to the scene. But it’s his subtleties that always get me though. Those fine details where you have to take a second look just to realize their beauty. Watching him use a broken mirror affixed to a C-stand just to catch a narrow beam of light and reflect it back onto a plinth to create the illusion of multiple light sources. Or watching him hoist a huge fake tree 14 feet into the air on a stand with a fan gently blowing on it to cast the perfect shadow. Or watching him set dust in the small gaps of a piece and blast compressed air through it just so the light will sparkle. It’s truly incredible. His attention to detail is unparalleled and I'm so lucky to have the opportunity to work with him. Keep an eye out for my guy James Arthurs.
