EXPLAINING THE ART “MODERN ARMOR PORTRAIT” SERIES PART 1 I had been dying to create something with film for a long time. Stretched out between time and continents, I sought out advice from two legends & peers creating magic with them @justicemukheli and from a new peer @emmanuelsmonsalve. When I first finally purchased my medium format film camera, the Mamiya RB67 pro S, I did not know what story I wanted to tell but I knew it had to be special, something close to my heart. After a lot of brainstorming, I settled on three things that are quite close to my heart, my love for suits, my love for a true cosmopolitan representation, and my love for New York City. I love a well-tailored suit, to me, it feels like a modern armor, a second skin, a chip on my shoulder that has given me the confidence to move in any room with my head held high; heck I’ve even spoken to people presidents without feeling as much as a single drop of the nervous rain that tends to wash over us in these scenarios. It was important that I keep the consistency of a version of suits I like and hence I've stuck to my guns with simplicity for “now” for each subject I get to photograph. A black suit, white shirt, and black tie. The true modern armor. To be continued... Model: @savka.dm
