I am still on an incredible high. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Quarantine 2020 has been a whole trip for me. I haven’t felt like being or pretending to want to be social/seen. Besides my fam, I’ve been extremely isolated. I didn’t think celebrating my bday this year should be a big deal or worth it bc we’ve been locked away and “who cares?”. I was just gonna have some food, a few drinks and call it what is was. The grey skies yesterday morning solidified this idea. ⁣⁣ But that wasn’t God’s plan. Immediately, the angels and ancestors called in reinforcements. @popthatprinsy: You gon beat your face for yo bday?!⁣⁣ Me: I should, right? Can YOU beat my face for my bday? ⁣⁣ @popthatprinsy : 👀⁣ @malikkamichelle: Oooh, you takin pics on the rooftop?! ⁣⁣ Me: I don’t know, it’s really gloomy out. ⁣⁣ @malikkamichelle: We can still make it look good. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I started to stress bc my hair wasn’t done, nails and toes don’t look like nothin, definitely hadn’t bought a new outfit. More reasons to deter me from doing anything at all. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But then all of the calls, texts, dms, voicemails, FaceTimes started rolling in... all of that spoke to my heart and soul. It was then that I decided to make sure that I celebrated myself whether I felt beautiful or worthy or not, whether we’re locked down or not, whether the sun and blue skies were out or not. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m sooo happy I decided to do TOO MUCH, y’all. I’m so happy that I documented my 32nd bday in this way. I’m glad I sat out in the sun, let my wig blow in the breeze, sip a lil cocktail and appreciate each and every single blessing in my life, including all of you. I don’t take for granted that I’m loved.
