Probably the biggest thrill for me at this years @deadline portrait studio was getting to meet and photograph someone I’ve adored and followed since I was a child and who’s comedy profoundly entertained and educated me in my formative years . It was Ernestine , the sassy #oldschool telephone operator from her #laughin days that was my gateway drug into the Tomlin character universe, to the point where I could practically recite her entire #LilyTomlinOnStage album by heart in grade 10 . How many movies has she been in and been the best part ? To many to mention , but my personal faves are #AllOfMe , #ShortCuts, #FlirtingWithDisaster and the iconic #9to5. She and her longtime writing partner ( and wife ) #JaneWagner have both been #personalheroes to me for so many years ,so having the opportunity to let her know how much I love and respect both of them was truly special . I showed her a pic I had of the two of us when I met her after a performance in Phoenix over a decade ago ( she lamented about how young we looked and how handsome I was in it ❤️) . Photographing a comedic legend like #LilyTomlin at the age of 83 was a complete privilege for which I am so grateful. Those laughing eyes and unmistakable smile sprang to life the minute she stepped in front of the camera. She was in town to promote the new film #MovingOn she’s in with two of her iconic costars #RichardRoundtree and #MalcolmMcDowell .
