The other looks worried, maybe thinking, do I tell them how I really feel? Do I even know how to explain it? Yeah I seem ok but I'm not. It's not a bad word to say 'seem'. At least they are trying to be observant & that can be a sign they care but the other person, they may be going through some issues that are stressful & experiencing anxiety. So on the surface they may seem fine but we are all human & all navigating many emotions, that arn't always obvious. . KEY POINTS Anxiety is a normal human function it's to help us stay alert in situations that require us to be, & to help in times of actual danger where we may need to fight flight or freeze. But it can get out of hand if we have lots of worries & lots of stress (in the mind & body) & many people who first experience this, it can be very scary when you don't know what's happening or how to calm. . You can't see anxiety with your eyes, meaning we can't see adrenaline & other stress hormones being pumped around the body & we can't see the mind scanning for negative (any foreseeable danger) we can maybe notice someone is not looking comfortable, but the only way any one will know how you feel is if you tell them, even if you don't quite understand it. . ANXIETY WHAT CAN YOU DO? If you're feeling anxious, tell yourself what you are feeling is the effects of stress hormones & that they do pass if you allow them to run their course, take a few deep breaths. Try not to worry about how you are coming across, the main thing is that it WILL pass & you'll feel better soon. If they ask tell them, 'I'm a little anxious, i need a minute'. If you are with someone who is feeling anxious, tell them, 'don't worry about me you take some deep breathes, take your time' & then maybe help change the focus to something non scary, mindful observation, 'hey the sky looks really cloudy today' or 'lets just listen'' anything calm until it passes. .
