Last week I visited Austin for the second time — and experienced SXSW for the first time. I moderated a panel at @sohohouseaustin for @goalshouse and @citypossible about how we might reimagine our cities to be more sustainable and equitable. Any meaningful progress on mitigating climate change has to start with cities. On an impact level, cities consume an outsized share of energy and produce more than 60% of the earth’s emissions, but they can also set an example of positive change that can influence the world. We had an incredibly inspiring discussion building on this idea, and came up with countless ways to create cities that support climate justice, encourage resilience and mental health, and even create more room for joy. I left with a renewed sense of possibility, fired up for the future.
