Current mantra: Forget about the training I wish I could do & focus on what I CAN manage. Of all of the lessons from sport, this has been the hardest for me. Now that I’m juggling training with school and a 1 year old, it’s even more salient. Many days I have to ignore the ghosts of sessions that I would like to/ used to/ think I should do and focus on the load that my coach knows I can handle. After all, it doesn’t matter how epic your training is if you can’t show up to a race healthy and energized. If you’re constantly managing injury, overtraining, and/ or illness, be honest with yourself and your coach. Maybe the training that you’re doing reflects more of what you wish you could handle than what your life or body can actually absorb. It’s definitely possible to race well working with our individual limitations- you just have to approach the process with focus and a little humility. 📷: @professionaltriathletesorg
