Before demonstrating a specific color shade to your client, the artist should understand exactly what color their client likes and wants to be tattooed on their lips. Peachy, pinky, dark pink, mauve, neutral!? There are so many different shades and you have to pick the one your client wants to have on their face. Rule #1 Never ask the client to show their favorite color they want to have using Instagram pictures of your or other people’s work. Why!? Based on my experience and logical explanation, clients can become trapped because they like everything about that picture: the shape of the lips, how the color of the lips matches with the facial skin color and etc. Plus we all have our own individual color base of our lips to begin with and if you use the same pigment shade the results will look completely different on every client. Rule #2 Never accept a worded color request. Many clients will try to explain what color they like by saying: “I want something natural.” Remember we all have a different understanding and idea of how natural should look. For me something natural can look bright pink and for others mauve.... THE BEST way to understand the color your client wants to have on their lips is by asking them to bring their favorite lip pencil or lipstick. It will be much easier to match the pigment color to these. Plus your client always wears them so they’re 100% sure that this color shade looks good on them. The only thing you should remember is that a make up pencil is applied on the skin, while permanent make up color is implanted under the skin so there are might be a variation in color. Make sure you explain this to your client. If your client has tanned skin and they bring you a brown makeup pencil make sure you explain to them that by tattooing this color their lips will look washed out. Remember we don’t want to cancel the use of make up. Let me know if this information was useful by giving me 100 comments with “Yes it was helpful” then I will continue with the next informational post where I will share with you how I demonstrate the pigment match to my clients.
