At least half of those who requested our help in 2021 reported unmet basic needs, lack of income due to COVID-19, or homelessness as top health and welfare concerns. One global study showed that refugees were 60% more likely to lose jobs or income during the pandemic compared to local populations. The persistence of poverty continues to drive displacement, and results in LGBTQI+ people facing significant vulnerabilities in the context of our work.
