Rainbow Railroad releases its 2021 Annual Report: Understanding the State of Global LGBTQI+ Persecution. June 20 is World Refugee Day, and we are releasing our 2021 Annual Report. 2021 was a deeply challenging challenging year for our community. We saw firsthand how global geopolitical crises disproportionately impact LGBTQI+ lives. In 2021, 8,506 individuals reached out to Rainbow Railroad for assistance. We provided support to 1,812 - the largest number of individuals supported in any year to date. Moving forward, we need to increase our capacity to respond to thousands of people waiting in our queue for assistance, and we need more tools and pathways to help get people to safety. When our work is especially daunting, the enduring strength we have demonstrated as a community should give us all confidence to continue the fight for global LGBTQI+ equality.
