When designer Benedetta Tagliabue of @embtarchitects was tapped to envision a Milan flagship for @ragno_ceramiche, she looked to the brand’s roots. The word “ragno” in Italian translates to spider, making the abstracted webs that grace the showroom’s entryway and showcase the brand’s wide range of tiles particularly fitting. “Given the wide range of collections, we were able to decorate this web,” Tagliabue says, “which is nothing more nor less than a real materials library, with different colors and finishes, and to tell a truly unique, fascinating story throughout the whole interior.”
Along with the web-like displays, numerous wall and floor mosaics abound. Designers and invited guests can see for themselves the various ceramic and porcelain tile combinations. Perhaps none is more inspiring than an homage to the surreal artwork of Giorgio de Chirico, a wall mosaic that appears to bring together more than 20 different kinds of tiles in a dazzling trompe l’oeil.
