There are a lot of different emotions in these pictures. The first is gratitude. I’ve been trying to catch a Trophy Bluefin Tuna in local waters for a very very long time. Countless hours, and dozens of fruitless trips... but I loved it and I felt I was working towards something special. On Tuesday my buddy Dr. Wayniac and I were chasing schools with every other boat in SoCal when the doctor announced “Ed, we’re gonna go find our own fish”. And boy did we. We were alone, not another boat in sight, when we hooked a beautiful 82 pounder that put up a great fight. Then we hooked a legitimate cow (felt well over 200lbs) but after an hour fight it got off (😭). And then... we locked into this majestic beastly beauty. I don’t think we were ready for the THREE HOUR fight this fish put up. We’d been on the water for 24 hours and just fought two other fish, so we were tired. And this fish was hell bent on breaking our will. It was a force of nature. It circled the boat a dozen times. Overpowered our drag time and time and time again. Almost pulled us both overboard more than once. It was complete chaos. I’m covered in cuts and bruises and still can’t lift with my arms... And I’ve never been happier. The other emotion is “Anticipation”. One of the best parts about hunting and fishing is sharing. (Legends like @cameronrhanes can articulate this much better than I can. I strongly recommend his new book “Endure”). The next few days I will be driving gorgeous blue fin tuna steaks (Toro/Maguro 🍣) to friends and family far and wide. So that’s the last emotion... joy. Huge thank you to 5 Star Fish Processing doing such an incredible job. Huge thank you to @underarmour @uafish for always making me look like I know what I’m doing. And as always, 🌎🙏🏼 #CircleLife #FoodIsLife #underarmour #underarmourfishing #uaFish #shimanofishing
