Where the Buffalo roam. There are few American stories as despairing as that of the American Bison. Few creatures on this planet have been treated with such abominable behavior. It’s hard to believe, but the American Bison once flourished throughout the plains. They roamed by the millions until settlers began moving west and found value in their hides. A creature that was once considered invaluable to the indigenous people for every part of their body became only valuable for its fur coat. It was not uncommon to see scenes of buffalo carcasses scattered across the plains with their hides removed by fur traders. Their lives considered so worthless that their meat that was once the lifeblood of a people was left to rot in the sun. As the bison numbers started decreasing so went with it the true wild American west. Now you can only see these creatures on protected lands, and the Wild West is no more.
