Did you know that disabled people only make up 8% of talent on screen and 2% off-screen? Keep in mind, disabled people make up 15% of the world’s population.
In celebration of Disability Pride Month, Netflix hosted two events (one in New York City and the other in Los Angeles) called “Celebrating Disability with Dimension”. These events highlighted the increasing visibility of disabled people in the film industry and throughout Hollywood.
To kick off the event in New York, a panel discussion about disability inclusion in Hollywood took place. Many great voices were featured, including our Founder & President, and advocate-extraordinaire, Keely @keely_cat_wells.
In Los Angeles, a short film called The Multi was shown. The Multi was written by and starred Deaf actor Natasha Ofili @natasha_ofili.
Both events featured an exclusive showing of The Gray Man using accessibility features such as closed captions and audio descriptions.
Thank you, @netflix, for having us!
