After all the comments, both positive and negative, that I received about my previous post, I was so excited today when this (TOTALLY UNRELATED PATIENT TO MY PREVIOUS POST) patient showed up in my office! Seems like it was meant to be. As is evident in the photo, this is a ANOTHER woman who has a badly sun damaged neck and a face that looks nice and clear. When we asked her what she did, she said that she uses sunscreen all the time on her face but not on her neck. However, on further probing, I learned that she had an ablative CO2 laser procedure performed years ago by an esteemed colleague of mine and then had 2 non-ablative procedures over the last 10 years. She also has used Tretinoin consistently since her first laser treatment. This makes perfect sense to me and would be the same explanation I assumed for the previous post, which I called misleading and CONTINUE to call misleading. A few lessons to be learned here: ✔︎ SUNSCREEN WORKS! ✔︎ WEAR SUNSCREEN ON ALL EXPOSED AREAS, INCLUDING NECK AND EARS. ✔︎ IF YOU ARE A LASER SURGEON, YOU MUST FEATHER THE PROCEDURE INTO THE NECK OR THIS WILL BE THE RESULT. THIS PHOTO IS NOT TO BE REPOSTED. IT IS PROPERTY OF GENDLER DERMATOLOGY. PRINTED WITH PATIENT PERMISSION.
