A piece from last year that I’ve kept “just for me” for a while. Hand-carved lapis lazuli by a master engraver (an original design, “gemini” themed), then pressed into a wax seal with the same wax I use for casting (this took way too long to perfect). The red wax mold was then cast in sterling silver. This concept has yet to bore me because the possibilities are endless—it creates multiple pieces, all connected. Honoring the whole animal! The carved lapis can create infinite medals, while also standing alone as an incredible piece. Going to keep chugging & creating with it. I imagine it as a duo piece (one wears the stone in a ring or pendant, one wears the metal pendant)—or even a familial piece, with one stone creating multiple medals.
