6.6.2022, flower girls 🕊 I had 5 special girls Daisy, Lily, Gigi, Millie and Alexia as my flowers girls and they looked like absolute angels. My mama @bevstacat123 found a wonderful designer called Maria Platero @maria_platero_kids who hand-makes her dresses in Madrid and I loved them, especially as Maria let me custom design my own. I wanted them to have a nautical twist as a nod to my Grandads who served in the Royal Navy. I sent over my inspirations and rough sketches and she made them exactly how I’d envisioned and then sent over a sample. Initially, we had a sailor neck at the front also but I changed it to just feature a sailor collar at the back for it to be more subtle. I knew I wanted it as a nod and not for it to look like a costume, especially as the fabric was so beautiful. The fabric was silk in a pearl colour. Schiaparelli kindly sent a swatch from Paris to Madrid and Maria matched the perfect silk to go with my wedding dress. The sailor collar was detachable and edged in ivory ribbons. The sleeves were puffed and had ivory ribbon at the bottom tied into a small bow. The large satin bow at the back was also detachable. I designed the collar and bow to be detachable so that the girls could wear their dresses for other occasions. I went for ballet shoes for the girls because of my passion for ballet and because I think they look so cute! We got these from @katzdancewear and they came with a rubber sole which was more hardy - great for them to walk around and dance in all day. We bought some little baskets online from Amazon - ‘Flower Girl Willow Basket’ with a bow ribbon from Jiaose Limited. We got these the day before as I remembered last minute (very me) that I wanted them to lay down petals as they walked down the nave of the Cathedral. We spent the morning getting ready for the day in the beautiful Lady Chapel.
