Ok so there had been a 42 year ban on home knitting for sale in the US . 🤭😳 that means half of Etsy would have been black market territory in the early 80's and all of you cute home knitters could have been in jayle. Since knitting mostly was a women activity. A lot of it was rooted in secssism and was designed to keep ouimen at home they didnt want them to become independent they wanted to maintain patriarchic ideals.
