British TV network @skytv has given the green light to two projects written and directed by @dragsyndrome’s Otto Baxter. The projects are titled “The Puppet Asylum” and “Otto Baxter: Not a F*cking Horror Story.”, which are both inspired by his own life and is a dramatical depiction of their experiences growing up as someone with Downs Syndrome. In fact, the second one is described as an “allegorical horror biopic reimagining Baxter’s life from baby to becoming his own master, charting his birth as a horned baby in a blood-splattered morgue through wayward teens to years in captivity in the ‘Puppet Asylum’.” “Blending archive with drama and present-day footage, companion doc Otto Baxter: Not a Fucking Horror Story follows 35-year-old Baxter through a year of change as a family bereavement makes him think about his own mortality for the first time. Through the writing and directing process, Baxter finds the vocabulary to process his past and imagine his future.” Many notable people are involved in this project including C Talent Disability Consultant and Access Coordinator, @dan_edge. Otto will be the first person with Downs Syndrome to write and direct a project of this caliber and we are so excited to see the finished product!
