For this cozy Upper East Side apartment vignette, Augusta Hoffman (@augusta.hoffman) and her client initially fell in love with an antique Swedish case piece that was sold out from under them. “I spent months searching for the perfect replacement, which always feels like a happy accident,” the designer says. “This really pushed us in a different direction that felt right for the home.” Her client had mentioned a love for tramp art, and this 1940s Brutalist Spanish piece in solid oak—a 1stDibs find—married that aesthetic with architectural lines to add just the right amount of heft to the living room.
