This is the room at Charleston where TS Eliot read The Waste Land out loud to his hosts. 100 years later Benedict Cumberbatch performed this incredible piece of work at @charlestonlitfest to music written by the author Anthony Burgess - an event, we’ve been reassured, that will never happen again. Feel incredibly lucky to have revisited Eliot’s words 23 years after I first read them, in such a thrilling way.
