Did you know that the birthplace of the classic martini is right here in Northern California? According to local libation lore, a lucky prospector struck it rich during the Gold Rush, and wandered into a Martinez bar with a handful of gold nuggets. He asked for "something special" to drink to celebrate his new wealth, and the bartender served him a "Martinez Special", consisting of gin and vermouth with an olive garnish. Over the years and many cocktails, the "Martinez Special" was shortened to "martini", and it's been a winning combination ever since. Last weekend, we were stoked to participate in the Martinez Martini Shake Off. We had so much fun celebrating one of our favorite cocktails! 🍸
