As I reflect on this summer, I can’t help but smile with gratitude, looking back on all the crazy things that happened. I made some of the best friends ever in the course of two months, and had a front row seat to watch God do incredible things in the lives of students. With that being said, here are a few things I learned.
1. Leadership is not a choice, or a career, it’s a calling. It isn’t something your turn off, or choose not to do because you don’t feel like it. I learned the hard way that you and I always have influence—it’s our choice to use it for good. I’ve also been reminded that leadership starts by leading yourself well, which is so much easier said than done.
2. Ministry, and faith in general, is a fight. It is not easy, or glamorous. Satan and his little minions (lol) are constantly working against everyone running the race of faith. However, the fight is always always always worth it.
3. Watching God work, surrounded by people you love, is the greatest privilege I’ve ever been a part of. I’d run the summer back in a heartbeat given the opportunity. Camp fam, I love you all. Thank you Jesus for the gifts of ministry and community. This has been the best summer yet.
