For the issue, I spent a few months getting to know the incredible women of the collective @dattalion_ currently home to the largest war-media database - launched three days after the war in Ukraine began, to fight disinformation. Women-founded and led, Dattalion employs many volunteers on the ground who were working women like us - who now use their phones and laptops as weapons to document the atrocities on the front line. ‘It’s about delivering and sharing the truth,’ one of the founders @valentina.synenka told me. What started as a database is now a multilayered operation that is building war-crimes cases and lobbying on an international political level. ‘This is truly where we show the power of women,’ says Synenka.
