@mammothcavenps just got even longer! With 6 new miles of cave mapped, the cave is now 426 miles long. 😮 Early mapping of the cave was done by enslaved guides who explored by lantern light. In 1972, the connection between the Mammoth Cave and Flint cave systems was discovered and the cave took its place as the longest cave system in the world.
